Yesterday night, Dev-Team has updated the RedSnOw utility to version 0.9.9b5 and as we wrote earlier , to it was added  the most important feature of the program  PwnageTool that is the ability to create  custom firmware without updating the modem. The new version of the red snow contains links to public IPSW files, which allows you to jailbreak iOS 5 without specifying their location manually.

It is still attached to jailbreak for all devices except the iPhone 3GS with old bootrom!

For this reason, Dev-Team has not released a new utility PwnageTool. Instead, it was decided to add its capabilities to RedSnow, because it had always wanted to load with the tethered jailbreak. New option “ Custom IPSW ”tab in the” Extras ”can now create a custom firmware without an increase in modem versions of iOS 4.3.3 and 5.0 ( so far only for the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 ).

Be careful not to accidentally select a file with the official firmware instead of custom! Title starts with custom firmware NO: “BB”. On computers MAC firmware file is selected by holding down the “Option” button and click in “Restore” (“Lost”) iTunes.

To fill a custom firmware your device must be in mode “Pwned DFU mode ” in Extras.

Note: Redsnow is currently not supporting the feature for creating Custom IPSW firmware on Windows. A windows version of RedSnOw 0.9.9b5 is set to release soon according to Dev Team.
