MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev Team announced on Twitter a new version of the tool to jailbreak iOS 5 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for Windows and Mac. Dev-Team has updated the utility Redsn0w to version  0.9.9b6 , which contains the functional and cosmetic fixes. For owners of the iPhone 3GS with a modem 06.15 were resolved with the service of geo-location in iOS 5. Cosmetics involves adding a timer when you log in mode DFU, which was not enough for novice users iPhone, which collided with a program to jailbreak iDevaysov the first time.


The sixth beta update is a minor Redsn0w utility update, the benefits that may not only allow you to jailbreak iOS devices from Apple, but also  make a custom firmware for the owners of iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. The release is aimed at removing bug that is running geolocation services on iPhone 3GS users.

Redsn0w 0.9.9b6 allows you to tether jailbreak iOS 5 and is now available for Windows and Mac for all devices except the iPhone 3GS with the old bootrom. This hack requires that you connect your iDevice to your computer on every reboot.

Note :

  • Redsn0w 0.9.9b6 does not jailbreak the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, built on the chip A5.
  • This is bound (tethered) jailbreak, so iOS-device must be connected to a computer on every reboot.
  • With high probability for the appearance of unattached jailbreak iOS 5 you will have to recreate the firmware in iTunes.
